At the Financial Times Africa Summit held in London on Monday, 9th October, 2017, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, said “Nigeria’s 180 million people, over 50 million have no power,”. But part of the present administration’s effort is to diversify power sources in order to improve access and a programme of providing solar power in 20,000 homes in rural villages had started.

Osinbajo stated that the Federal Government invested N1.3tn in infrastructure in 2016, making it the largest capital spending in the country’s history; and the government was ready to increase the figure in the 2018 budget.
